About us

Gemwaith Bowen Jewellery creates handmade jewellery, bespoke jewellery, remodelling commissions and jewellery-making workshops.
All jewellery is handmade, finished or prepared by us. Due to the handmade nature of our work, small variations may occur. These are part of the character of handmade jewellery and do not constitute faults.

2. Website retail orders

When you place an order through our website, you agree that all information provided by you is accurate and complete.
Once your order has been placed, you will receive an order confirmation by email. This confirmation means we have received your order, but it does not mean your order has been accepted if there is an error with stock availability, pricing or product information.
We reserve the right to refuse, cancel or refund an order where necessary, including where an item is unavailable, incorrectly priced or unsuitable to fulfil.

3. Handmade and made-to-order jewellery

Many of our pieces are handmade or made to order. This means your piece may not be ready for immediate dispatch.
Product descriptions will usually state an estimated making or dispatch time. Any timescales given are estimates only, although we will always do our best to work within them.
If you need an item for a specific date, please contact us before ordering so we can advise whether this is possible.

4. Bespoke, personalised and remodelled jewellery

Bespoke, personalised, engraved, remodelled, altered or custom-made jewellery is made specifically for you.

This may include, but is not limited to:
-
jewellery made to your chosen size, metal, stones or design;
-
jewellery made using your own gold, silver, gemstones or heirloom jewellery;
-
engraved or personalised items;
-
jewellery altered or adapted at your request;
-
CAD-designed or custom-designed pieces.

Once work has begun, bespoke, personalised and custom-made orders cannot usually be cancelled or refunded unless they are faulty.
Deposits, design fees, CAD fees and payments towards bespoke work are non-refundable once design work, sourcing, casting, making or preparation has started.
This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty.

5. Payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling.
Payment must be made in full at the time of purchase unless we have agreed a payment plan, deposit arrangement or staged payment in writing.
For bespoke work, a deposit or part-payment may be required before any design work, sourcing or making begins. The remaining balance must be paid before collection, delivery or handover of the finished piece.
We reserve the right to withhold items until full payment has been received.

6. Prices

Our prices are subject to change without notice.
Precious metal and gemstone prices can fluctuate. Quotes for bespoke work will usually be valid for the period stated on the quote. If no period is stated, we may need to requote if metal or stone prices change significantly before payment is made.
Once your order has been accepted and paid for, the price will not change unless you request changes, additions or extra work.

7. Delivery

Delivery times vary depending on whether an item is in stock, made to order, personalised or bespoke.
We will dispatch your order to the delivery address provided by you. Please ensure your address is correct at the time of ordering.
We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect delivery details, postal delays, courier delays, strikes, customs delays or events outside our control.
For higher-value items, we may use tracked, signed-for or insured delivery. You may be required to sign for your parcel.

8. Collection

If you choose to collect your item, we will contact you when it is ready.
Items must be collected at an agreed time. We may ask for proof of identity or order confirmation before releasing an item.

9. Returns and cancellations for retail orders

For standard, non-personalised retail items bought online, you may have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your item.
To cancel, you must email us at info@bowenjewellery.co.uk within 14 days of receiving your order.
Items must then be returned to us within 14 days of notifying us that you wish to cancel. Items must be returned unused, unworn, undamaged and in their original packaging.
You are responsible for return postage unless the item is faulty. We recommend using a tracked and insured postal service, as you are responsible for the item until it reaches us.
Once we have received the item back and checked it, we will process any refund due.
The right to cancel does not usually apply to bespoke, personalised, engraved, altered, remodelled or custom-made jewellery unless the item is faulty.
This does not affect your statutory rights.

10. Earrings

For hygiene reasons, earrings may not be returnable once worn or removed from sealed packaging, unless faulty.
Please check the product description carefully before purchasing.

11. Faulty items

We take great care in making and checking our jewellery before it leaves us.
If you believe your item is faulty, please contact us as soon as possible at info@bowenjewellery.co.uk with your order details, a description of the issue and clear photographs where possible.
Faulty items will be assessed individually. If an item is found to be faulty, we will offer a suitable remedy in line with your statutory rights.
Damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, normal wear and tear, incorrect storage, exposure to chemicals, or third-party repairs or alterations will not be treated as a fault.

12. Ring sizing and alterations

It is your responsibility to provide the correct ring size when placing an order.
If you are unsure of your ring size, please contact us before ordering. We recommend being professionally measured where possible.
Some rings can be resized, but this depends on the design, metal, stones and setting. Resizing may incur an additional charge.
Personalised, engraved, bespoke or custom-sized rings may not be returnable if the incorrect size was provided.

13. Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are available for jewellery, workshops and courses unless otherwise stated.
Gift vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless a different expiry date is stated.
Gift vouchers must be used at the time of booking or purchase. We are unable to apply a voucher retrospectively after an order or booking has been completed.
Workshop Terms and Conditions
The following terms apply to all jewellery-making workshops, wedding ring workshops, private workshops, courses and classes run by Gemwaith Bowen Jewellery.

14. Workshop bookings

Your workshop place is only secured once payment has been received.
We are unable to hold workshop places without payment.
By booking a workshop, you agree to these terms and confirm that you understand the workshop booking is for the specific date and time selected.

15. Standard workshop cancellation policy

Unless you have purchased the Flexi Cancellation option set out below, workshop bookings are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date.
We understand that plans can change, but workshop spaces are limited and we prepare materials, tools, staffing and catering in advance.
If you can no longer attend, you are always welcome to transfer your place to another person for the same workshop date, but you must let us know in advance.
Please email info@bowenjewellery.co.uk with the substitute attendee’s full name, contact details and any dietary requirements.
We must be made aware of any attendee change before the workshop. Please do not send someone in your place without telling us.

16. Flexi Cancellation option

When booking a workshop, you may be offered the option to add Flexi Cancellation for an additional 10% of the workshop price.
If you purchase Flexi Cancellation, you may cancel your workshop booking up to 48 hours before the workshop start time and receive a refund of the workshop fee paid.
The 10% Flexi Cancellation fee itself is non-refundable, as this is the cost of adding flexibility to your booking.
Flexi Cancellation must be purchased at the time of booking and cannot be added later.
If you cancel less than 48 hours before the workshop, the standard non-refundable policy will apply. However, you may still transfer your place to another person for the same workshop date, as long as we are made aware before the workshop.

17. Transferring your workshop place to someone else

Whether or not you have purchased Flexi Cancellation, you may transfer your workshop place to another person for the same workshop date.
You must email us at info@bowenjewellery.co.uk before the workshop with the new attendee’s:
-
full name;
-
contact details;
-
dietary requirements, if food is included;
-
any medical, accessibility or safety information we need to be aware of.
If a participant change is made with less than 24 hours’ notice, we will do our best to accommodate any dietary requirements, but we cannot guarantee this because catering is arranged in advance.
Workshop places cannot be transferred to a different date unless we agree otherwise in writing.

18. Late arrival and no-shows

Please arrive on time for your workshop.
If you arrive 15 minutes late or more, we will do our best to accommodate you within the remaining workshop time. However, there is a chance you may not complete your item of jewellery.
If extra time is required and available, an additional fee may be charged.
If you do not attend your booking and do not notify us, this will be treated as a no-show and no refund will be given.

19. Cancellation by us

There may be circumstances where we need to cancel or rearrange a workshop.
If we cancel a workshop, we will offer you either:
-
a full refund of the workshop fee paid; or
-
a gift voucher for the amount paid, which can be used towards another workshop or in our online shop.
Where possible, we may also offer priority booking for a future workshop date.
We are not responsible for travel, accommodation, childcare or any other costs incurred if a workshop is cancelled or rearranged.

20. Dietary requirements, medical conditions and accessibility

If your workshop includes food or refreshments, please inform us of any dietary requirements at least 2 weeks before the workshop date.
If you have a medical condition, disability, accessibility requirement, allergy, pregnancy-related consideration or anything else we should be aware of for your safety and comfort, please email us as soon as possible and at least 2 weeks before the workshop.
We will do our best to make reasonable arrangements where possible, but advance notice is essential.

21. Health and safety

Jewellery-making workshops involve tools, equipment, heat, chemicals, sharp objects and other workshop processes.
You must follow all health and safety instructions given by us at all times.
You must not bring hazardous or dangerous items into the workshop.
You may not consume alcohol before or during the workshop. If we believe you are under the influence of alcohol or any substance that may affect your safety or the safety of others, you will be asked to leave and no refund will be given.
If you act in a way that we believe is unsafe, disruptive, aggressive or likely to cause harm or distress to others, you may be asked to leave and no refund will be provided.

22. Damage to property

You must treat the workshop space, tools, equipment, venue and surroundings with care.
You will be responsible for any damage caused by you to our tools, equipment, property or the venue.

23. Personal belongings

Please keep your personal belongings with you at all times.
We accept no liability for damage to, loss of, or theft of personal belongings brought to the workshop.

24. Photography and filming

We may take photographs or videos during workshops for use on our website, social media, marketing and promotional materials.
If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please let us know before or during the workshop.
You are welcome to take your own photographs or videos during the workshop for personal use, provided this does not disrupt the class or affect the privacy and enjoyment of other attendees.

25. Workshop content and copyright

All workshop content, including written materials, demonstrations, designs, teaching methods, instructions, photographs, handouts and guidance, belongs to Gemwaith Bowen Jewellery unless otherwise stated.
Workshop materials are provided for your own private and individual use only.
You are welcome to go home and recreate the jewellery we teach you to make. You may also use the skills learned to make your own jewellery.
However, you must not copy, reproduce, teach, publish, distribute, sell, adapt or use our workshop content, format, materials or teaching methods to run your own classes, workshops, courses or educational content for gain.
By booking a workshop, you agree not to copy or reproduce our workshops or teaching materials for commercial or educational use.

26. Data protection

We will use the personal information you provide to process your order, manage your booking, contact you about your purchase or workshop, and provide the goods or services you have requested.
This may include your name, contact details, order details, workshop booking information, dietary requirements, accessibility needs or relevant medical information.
We will only use your personal information for legitimate business purposes connected with your order or booking, unless you have given us permission to contact you for other reasons.
For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.

27. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and conditions from time to time.
The terms that apply to your order or booking will be the terms in place at the time you made your purchase or booking.
